Becky Miller has assumed the leadership position for our Meals on Wheels program. Kristal Morton is the assistant coordinator. Judy Burkholder continues to direct the Cocalico MOW site located at St. John's United Church of Christ in Denver, PA. With nearly 3,000 meals delivered every month this is EASS' most visible service. Meals are prepared and delivered by volunteers at two sites: St. Johns UCC on 4th St. in Denver and The Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity at 167 E. Main St. in Ephrata. A hot and cold meal are prepared five days a week, barring the unforeseen and, of course a few holidays. This valuable service can be accessed by calling the Meals on Wheels Program, (717) 733-4846, or by calling the main office, (717) 733-0345. This is a program in constant need of volunteers. If you or someone you know has a free hour or so during weekday mornings you might want to consider this excellent way to "make someone's day", including your own, by delivering 4 to 6 meals to folks who are, by age or circumstance, nutritionally challenged. Volunteers are needed in both MOW program sites. Cooks, prep people, drivers...The volunteer is the heart of this special service. If you, or someone you know, would like to know more about the volunteer opportunities call Becky at 717 733-4846. updated Jan. 2009 |
